Antinori Tignanello Grappa: Tignanello Grappa is obtained from the distillation of the skins and pips (pomace) from the Sangiovese and Cabernet used in the production of Tig. After pressing, the pomace is immediately taken to the distillery. This procedure guarantees that distillation is carried out using the best quality marc possible - rich with aromatic characteristics. A very careful selection is then made of the different lots of grappa and only the ones with the most elegance and balance are then blended and bottled (adapted from www.brownderby.com).

Christian Drouin Coeur De Lion Sélection Calvados: On the Coeur de Lion estate, Christian Drouin Jr. has planted a new orchard in order to preserve the leading varieties of apple from the Auge region, including some that are specific to the Pont-l'Évêque area. Pressed when fully ripe, once only so as to yield nothing but pure juice, and fermented in large oak barrels, these apples produce a rich fruity cider for distillation. This spirit is very good as an after-dinner digestif. Plus, try this sauce: a splash of Calvados with cream and mild soya sauce; heat gently and use as a sauce for roast beef.

Cordelier Vieux Marc De Provence: This elegantly presented eau-de-vie is equally impressive in the glass. Intriguing nose of honeysuckle, sweetgrass, floral, apple peel, white raisins and fresh cream. It starts out sweet and fruity, with lovely texture, before a wave of spicy white pepper washes delightfully over the mid-palate and nice, lingering finish. Impressive poise and elegance throughout.
